I know where you stand Hud, but not why. It is for the sake of game lengths? Or preserving the romance of the human element? Or ensuring umps don't get lazy, knowing they have instant replay to back them up?
Personally I'm in favor of instant replay for home runs. Definitely not for balls and strikes et al.
Especially in the regular season, it's asking a lot of umpires to be in position to call every home run correctly.
Hire two more umps for every game to work the outfield and keep it simple. Baseball is a simple game. And don't think there will only be replay for boundary calls, because that will extend then to close calls at bases, and close calls on diving plays, and then close calls on balls and strikes. If you let replay in for one thing, eventually the same argument is going to be made to bring replay in everywhere: "Let's get the call right, we have the technology." Once you let replay in, you won't be able to get it out.

With Baseball's thirst to become mainstream as other sports, play by play will eventually be determined by a micro chip.
Replay improves correct calls and replaces the human element.
Steroids improve player performance and replaces the human element.
You can't have one without the other, Bud.
