Poor plate discipline is quickly sinking the S.S. Leyland, just as it was about to pull into port.
If Vin were broadcasting the Tigs for the past 25 games, he might say:
"Now you kids watching at home, don't swing at the first pitch after the two guys in front of you drew walks. Make that pitcher prove he can hit the plate."

Nothing like a nut cutting series with the TWINS to see what you're made of. Maybe 'Guardy' will throw Santana twice during the four games and put him on the DL (see Liriano) just in time for the playoffs. Also, don't rule out Guardy bringing Liriano off the DL to have him throw with his right hand vs. the TIGERS.
At this point last year the White Sox still led the Indians by 8.5 games.
. . . was whittled to 1.5. . .
. . . Then they won the World Series. . .
It could be much worse, Tiger fans.
There's lots of baseball to be played. ENJOY!!!
I made the same White Sox-Tigers comparison to Hud a week ago and he got mad at me.

Well yeah, the '05 Sox and '06 Tigers are different teams. . . But the point is there's no backing into the pennant. . . if you're good enough to win it, you win it. If you're not, you don't.
The Tigers are in terrific shape; we'll see what happens.
Tigs are in great shape in the standings, but not in performance. They aren't losing because the ball isn't bouncing their way. They're wasting championship pitching efforts with very, very poor at-bats. Monroe is the exception.
And the reason I wanted Benji to quiet down about the Sox analogy was...oh wait, it's happening. That's why.
I'm not in this for a WS championship. I'd just like them to play the game well...the way they have all year.
